What is Bape?
A Bathing Ape was started in 1983 by a Japanese man known as Nigo. The label emerged as part of Tokyo’s underground Harajuku scene. At first, Nigo could only afford to make around 50 T-shirts per week, which led to the two key elements behind today’s streetwear business model: hype and scarcity.
